Q. Why choose Skippers Canyon Jet?

A. Skippers Canyon Jet is the best value Jet Boat Tour in Queenstown and offers a stunning scenic drive into Skippers Canyon with bus driver commentary followed by an adrenaline fuelled jet boat ride through the most dramatic canyons of the Shotover River. We are a family run business with an impeccable safety record.

Q. What is the child age?

A. 3 – 15 years old.

Q. Is there a height restriction?

A. 1 metre.

Q. What constitutes a Family Pack?

A. 2 adults and 1 child. Extra kids are charged at the child rate.

Q. How long is the jet boat ride itself?

A. 25 – 30 mins.

Q. How long is the trip in total?

A. 3 hours for the Jet boat tour, 4 hours for the Scenic Tour and Scenic Tour & Jet trips.

Q. Will I get wet?

A. You’ll get spray from the spins but you won’t get soaked – we have spray jackets if you require one.

Q. What shall I wear?

A. We recommend dressing for the weather and wearing sunglasses/normal glasses, even on a cloudy day. In winter wrap up warm with gloves and a hat, in summer bring insect repellent, a hat, sunglasses, water.

Q. Can I bring my GoPro/Camera on the boat?

A. Yes of course, this is at your own risk.

Q. Will there be somewhere to leave belongings?

A. Your belongings will be locked and secure on the bus whilst you are on the boat.

Q. Can I self drive into Skippers Canyon?

A. No – Rental cars are not insured on Skippers Road and because of the nature of the road we provide transport to and from Queenstown.

Q. What is the difference between the Jet Boat Tour and the Scenic Tour & Jet?

A. Both tours include the same scenic drive into the Canyon and the same 30 minute thrilling jet boat ride. In addition the Scenic Tour & Jet includes a visit to Winky’s Museum with refreshments, a tour of the Sainsbury Gold Claim and gold panning. The Scenic Tour is the same as the Scenic Tour & Jet but without the Jet Boat Ride and they are on the same bus.

Q. Can I participate in the trip if I am pregnant or have an injury?

A. We cannot take anyone who is pregnant on the bus or boat ride. If you have a back injury we do not advise participating in the trip. Please let us know of any injuries you may have.

Q. Do I need to book?

A. Booking is essential either by phone or online. This can be done up to the day before online or on the day you can book over the phone by calling +64 3 442 9434.

Q. Where do trips depart from?

A. Trips depart from outside the Station Building on the corner of Shotover Street and Camp Streets in the centre of Queenstown. There is a bus stop next to the line of wooden benches. Please be ready to go 10mins prior to trip departure time. Central hotel pick up is available by prior arrangement for the Scenic Tour and The Scenic Tour & Jet.

Q. Is there parking nearby?

A. There are numerous parking options in Queenstown but please allow time to find a park and walk to the Station Building. Trips run to a strict schedule so we cannot wait for late arrivals. Click here to access the Queenstown Parking map.
